Islamabad authorities have finalized strict security arrangements ahead of planned political marches and protests.
More than 22,000 security personnel are expected to be deployed across the federal capital. The measures aim to maintain law and order.
Security personnel from other areas have also started arriving in Islamabad. Officials have prepared a detailed deployment plan for sensitive locations.
Eight deputy inspectors general will oversee the security deployment. Ten senior superintendents of police will also supervise operations.
The security plan includes 40 superintendents of police and 58 deputy superintendents. Around 246 inspectors will also perform duties across different sectors.
The Red Zone has received additional security because of the planned marches. Authorities are preparing to restrict access if required.
More than 1,000 containers have been positioned at important roads and entry points. These containers can be used to block routes if officials issue orders.
Security personnel will be deployed along major routes leading toward the Red Zone. These include routes from the Motorway, Tarnol and Sangjani.
Additional security measures are planned for Srinagar Highway and Islamabad Expressway. Authorities are also monitoring other important routes around the capital.
The route from Kashmir through Bara Kahu may also face restrictions. Containers can be placed there if officials decide to close the route.
Officials may also restrict access to the Red Zone through Margalla Road. The decision will depend on the security situation.
Police, Frontier Corps and Rangers personnel have been called from other areas. Their deployment will strengthen the existing security force in Islamabad.
Accommodation arrangements have also been made for personnel arriving from outside the capital. Government buildings, schools and colleges may be used for accommodation.
Authorities have also prepared accommodation for senior police officers. Hotels and guest houses will be used for some officers.
Surveillance will form another part of the security plan. Islamabad’s extensive camera network will be used to monitor important locations.
Police will also conduct aerial surveillance through drones. The measure will help officials observe movement around sensitive areas.
Restaurants, hotels and inns are also being monitored under the security plan. Entry points into Islamabad have received additional checks.
Authorities have intensified inspections at the city’s entry points. The checks are intended to monitor movement into the federal capital.
The security measures come as several groups have announced planned protests. The PTI has announced a September 27 march toward Islamabad.
Jamaat-i-Islami has also announced a long march against petroleum product levies. Kissan Ittehad has separately announced a protest march seeking relief for farmers.
The planned demonstrations have prompted authorities to increase preparations across the twin cities. Additional personnel and containers are being positioned at key locations.
The arrangements cover personnel deployment, route restrictions and surveillance. Officials are also preparing for possible changes based on the situation.
Authorities have not announced that all routes will remain closed. Restrictions can be imposed when required under the security plan.
The security operation is focused on Islamabad’s sensitive areas and major entry routes. Officials are continuing preparations as the planned protests approach.
