Islamabad Market Committee Issues Updated Price List For Food Items

Islamabad Market Committee Issues Updated Price List For Food Items

The Islamabad Market Committee has issued an updated price list for essential food items across the capital.

The price list covers poultry, eggs, sugar, fruits and vegetables. Officials have directed traders to follow the notified rates.

According to the latest rates, chicken meat has been fixed at Rs375 per kilogram. Eggs are priced at Rs238 per dozen.

The official price list sets the sugar rate at Rs147 per kilogram. It also includes rates for several fruits and vegetables.

Apples have been listed at up to Rs270 per kilogram. Banana prices range from Rs100 to Rs184, depending on their category and weight.

The notified rates also cover onions, potatoes and tomatoes. Prices for grapes, peas and other seasonal vegetables have also been included.

The Islamabad Market Committee issued the rates for markets operating across different sectors. Traders and distributors have been directed to comply with the official rates.

Authorities said the measure aims to improve price monitoring in the capital. It also seeks to protect consumers from unnecessary increases in food prices.

Consumers have been advised to check the notified rates before purchasing essential items. They can also report cases of overcharging to relevant market committee officials.

The latest price list comes amid continued government efforts to control food prices. Authorities have increased monitoring of essential commodities in different markets.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar warned against market-related malpractices. He said strict action would be taken against those involved in overpricing.

Dar also warned against hoarding and creating artificial shortages of essential food items. His remarks came during a high-level meeting on food supply.

The meeting reviewed the availability and supply of essential commodities. Sugar remained among the key items discussed during the meeting.

The deputy prime minister directed relevant authorities to ensure proper implementation of government policies. He stressed the need to provide essential food items at affordable prices.

Market officials are expected to monitor compliance with the newly issued rates. Traders found violating the notified prices could face action under applicable rules.

The updated rates provide consumers with a reference for checking prices in Islamabad markets. However, prices of some seasonal produce may vary according to category.

Authorities have encouraged consumers to remain aware of the official rates. They have also urged citizens to report violations through the relevant channels.

The issuance of the updated price list reflects ongoing efforts to improve market regulation. Officials are expected to continue monitoring food prices across the capital.
