Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan reviewed the ongoing work on the Islamabad-Murree Expressway and expressed satisfaction with its progress. During his visit, he announced that the long-awaited expressway project has entered its final phase and will soon be inaugurated by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
According to Abdul Aleem Khan, the Islamabad-Murree Expressway has been upgraded into a modern, high-standard highway. The route, which connects Islamabad to the popular hill station of Murree, serves millions of tourists each year. He said the new upgrades aim to make travel safer, smoother, and more convenient for both locals and visitors.
The federal minister praised the National Highway Authority (NHA) for its efficient performance and timely completion of key milestones. He added that the motorway police have now been deployed along the route to improve traffic management and ensure the safety of travelers.
Abdul Aleem Khan also noted that new rest areas have been developed with modern facilities to provide comfort and convenience to passengers. These rest points include clean washrooms, food outlets, and fuel stations to cater to the needs of commuters.
Highlighting the government’s broader infrastructure goals, he said the expressway reflects Pakistan’s commitment to developing road networks that meet international standards. The project not only promotes safer travel but also supports tourism and economic activity in the region.
He added that improved road conditions and better facilities would encourage more tourists to visit Murree and nearby areas, boosting local businesses and employment opportunities.
The Islamabad-Murree Expressway is one of several key infrastructure projects underway across the country, aimed at enhancing connectivity and improving the travel experience for citizens.
