Islamabad Police Introduce On-the-Spot Driving Learner Permits for Citizens

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Police has launched the second phase of its driving license campaign, making it easier for residents to obtain learner permits directly at city checkpoints.

The initiative was introduced under the directives of the Inspector General of Islamabad Police to promote road safety and ensure compliance with traffic regulations. Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Hamza Humayun announced that citizens can now get learner permits through facilitation vans stationed at four key checkpoints β€” Zero Point, Faizabad, G-14, and the Foreign Office.

According to the CTO, these mobile units will issue learner permits on the spot to individuals who do not possess valid driving licenses. He added that Islamabad Police officers at the checkpoints are actively inspecting licenses to discourage unlicensed driving. Those found without valid documents will be offered the chance to obtain a learner permit immediately.

Hamza Humayun emphasized that the Islamabad Traffic Police is committed to offering transparent and accessible services to the public. The campaign also aims to increase awareness about responsible driving and improve road discipline across the federal capital.

Earlier, the department added 15 new service desks at the Faizabad Traffic Office and the Traffic Headquarters to improve public convenience. These desks were introduced to reduce waiting times and make the licensing process faster and more efficient.

A spokesperson confirmed that the new service desks will operate from 6:00 PM daily, ensuring citizens can access services even after regular working hours.
