Authorities in Islamabad have released a detailed traffic advisory ahead of the arrival of foreign delegations. Strict security measures and road closures have been enforced across the capital. The plan aims to ensure safety and smooth movement during the high-level negotiations.
According to Islamabad Traffic Police, the Red Zone and nearby areas are completely closed to all traffic. This traffic advisory highlights several major routes that will remain shut. These include Srinagar Highway from Kashmir Chowk to Zero Point, and Club Road connecting key government areas.
Other affected roads include the stretch from Zero Point to Serena Chowk and Shakarparian Road from Chand Tara Chowk to Seventh Avenue. Jinnah Avenue from Khayaban Chowk to Blue Area is also closed. Margalla Road from Faisal Chowk to Trail 3 will remain inaccessible.
In addition, the Expressway from Zero Point to Coral Chowk is closed in both directions. Authorities said this traffic advisory is necessary due to the arrival of an important Iranian delegation. Enhanced security arrangements are in place throughout the city.
Heavy vehicles will not be allowed to enter the city on April 11 and 12. Commuters traveling from Peshawar to Rawalpindi via GT Road are advised to use alternate routes. These include the Taxila Motorway, Chakri, Chak Beli Road, and Rawat Road.
Travelers moving from Lahore to Peshawar should also follow alternate routes. Suggested paths include Rawat, Chak Beli Road, Chakri, and the Taxila Motorway. Traffic from Zero Point via Faisal Avenue is being diverted toward 9th Avenue.
Residents traveling from Bara Kahu to Rawalpindi should use Kurang Road, Bani Gala, and Lehtrar Road. Officials emphasized that following the traffic advisory will help reduce congestion and delays.
All offices and markets in the extended Red Zone will remain closed during this period. Citizens are advised to avoid unnecessary travel and cooperate with law enforcement agencies.
The administration stated that these measures are temporary but essential. The traffic advisory is part of broader efforts to manage security and maintain order during the ongoing diplomatic engagements.
