In a significant escalation of hostilities, India launched missile attacks on three major Pakistan Air Force (PAF) installations: Nur Khan Airbase in Chaklala (Rawalpindi), Murid Base in Chakwal, and Rafiqui Base in Shorkot, Jhang district. However, Pakistan’s defense systems successfully intercepted the strikes, preventing any damage.
Nur Khan Airbase, a highly strategic military site situated about 10 kilometers from Islamabad, was at the center of the attack. Residents of Chaklala reported hearing two powerful explosions, leading to a rapid response by police and emergency services.

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), confirmed the attempted strikes and condemned them as part of India’s ongoing “naked aggression.” According to him, Indian fighter jets launched air-to-surface missiles targeting critical PAF assets.
Despite the hostile move, the Pakistani military assured the public that all air force assets at the targeted bases remained unharmed. “All PAF facilities are fully secure,” said Lt Gen Chaudhry, highlighting the preparedness and swift action of Pakistani defense forces.
The attack comes amid rising tensions between the nuclear-armed neighbors, with both countries regularly engaging in skirmishes along the Line of Control (LoC) and incidents of airspace violations. In response, Pakistan has placed its air defense systems on high alert to counter any future threats.
Security forces sealed off the affected zones, initiating thorough investigations into the cross-border aggression. Initial findings indicate that the strike was part of a broader attempt to destabilize Pakistan’s air defense infrastructure.
No casualties or material losses have been reported so far. Meanwhile, similar blasts were reported in Lahore the same night, raising concerns about a coordinated attack plan. Authorities are actively probing any possible connections between the incidents.
As the situation continues to unfold, Pakistan’s leadership has vowed to take appropriate retaliatory measures to uphold its national sovereignty. Official statements and further updates are expected soon.
