ITP Issues Traffic Diversion Plan for Shaheen Chowk Construction Work

The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has announced a temporary traffic diversion plan at Shaheen Chowk, located on Margalla Road, to manage congestion caused by ongoing construction work. The plan will remain in effect daily from 4 pm to 7 pm, coinciding with peak traffic hours, to ensure smooth and safe vehicular movement across the capital.

According to an ITP spokesperson speaking to the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP), several alternative routes have been designated to facilitate motorists. Vehicles coming from E-11 and DCI Road are advised to use the F-10 Service Road via Jinnah Avenue.

Similarly, drivers travelling from Ninth Avenue toward Margalla Road should take a right turn from F-9 Park Gate 5 and proceed through F-8 Park Road to reach their destination. Commuters heading from Margalla Road to F-10 can either turn left from Faisal Chowk to access Jinnah Avenue or use PN Zafar Chowk (near Ali Medical Center in F-8) to reach Jinnah Avenue or Ninth Avenue.

The spokesperson confirmed that ITP officers have been deployed at key junctions to guide traffic and assist motorists in navigating diversions efficiently. “We regret any inconvenience caused during this period, but these measures are essential to ensure public safety and smooth traffic flow,” the official said.

He added that citizens can contact Pucar-15 or 1915 for real-time traffic updates, route guidance, or to report emergencies. The ITP reiterated its commitment to ensuring safe, orderly, and well-regulated traffic movement throughout Islamabad, particularly in areas affected by infrastructure projects.

This temporary diversion plan is part of the ITP’s ongoing efforts to minimize disruptions caused by road development and urban improvement works, keeping commuters informed and ensuring minimal delays during peak travel hours.
