Jazz Under Fire for Hidden Charges as Users Allege Unauthorized Balance Deductions

Many mobile users in Pakistan are again raising concerns about unexpected balance deductions. Customers claim that hidden value-added services are being activated without clear consent. The issue has placed Jazz under renewed public scrutiny.

The debate gained attention after a viral social media post by content creator Komail Muaviah. He alleged that his younger brother’s SIM card faced repeated balance deductions. According to him, the SIM was registered with Jazz and used in a basic keypad phone. The device had no internet apps installed.

Komail stated that his brother regularly recharged Rs200 to Rs300. However, the balance reportedly dropped to zero within hours or a single day. This left the user unable to make calls.

After checking the SIM details through the network’s official app, Komail claimed he found 12 value-added services active on the number. He said these services were not requested or knowingly subscribed to. He further alleged that around Rs70 to Rs80 was being deducted daily.

The post quickly went viral and triggered wider discussion. Many social media users shared similar complaints. They claimed that mobile operators activate subscriptions without clear approval. Some users also questioned the transparency of billing systems.

The matter has also drawn attention toward the telecom regulator, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority. Critics have urged the authority to strengthen oversight. They called for stricter rules to protect consumer rights and ensure transparency.

At present, Jazz has not released an official public statement addressing the latest allegations. The company has previously maintained that customers can check and manage subscriptions through official channels.

Consumer rights advocates stress the need for clear consent before activating paid services. They also recommend that users regularly check their active subscriptions.

The controversy highlights growing concerns about digital billing practices in Pakistan. Many users are now demanding clearer policies and faster complaint resolution.
