JazzCash, Pakistan’s digital financial services platform, has distributed financial assistance to 100,000 beneficiaries across Punjab under the Government of Punjab’s “Maryam Ko Batayn” programme.
Under the initiative, each approved beneficiary received PKR 10,000, with a total of PKR 1 billion distributed through the JazzCash agent network. The service allows citizens to collect their funds securely from nearby locations.
The programme was launched under the leadership of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif. It aims to provide financial support to eligible citizens through digital and accessible channels.
Citizens can apply through the helpline 1000, the “Maryam Ko Batayn” mobile application, and the official web portal. Applicants are required to register using their CNIC details.
After registration, applications are verified through the Punjab Socio-Economic Registry (PSER) and other relevant welfare databases. Eligible individuals are then approved for financial assistance.
Beneficiaries can collect the grant in cash from designated JazzCash agents after completing CNIC and biometric verification. The process does not require citizens to open a bank account or visit a bank branch.
The programme uses the wide agent network of JazzCash across Punjab to make financial assistance available closer to communities. This approach also helps people who have limited access to traditional banking services.
According to the programme details, citizens already registered with the Punjab Socio-Economic Registry can receive funds within 24 hours after verification. New applicants can complete registration, verification, and approval within four days.
The first phase of the initiative has provided support to 100,000 beneficiaries across Punjab. Following the initial rollout, the programme will continue beyond Ramazan to reach more individuals and families facing financial challenges.
Arif Mahmood Chaudhary, Head of Public Sector Partnerships at JazzCash, said the focus is on delivering assistance securely and efficiently. He added that biometric verification and the agent network help bring support closer to communities.
The initiative reflects growing efforts to improve government-to-person payment systems through technology. JazzCash has previously worked with public institutions to support digital welfare payments and financial inclusion.
