The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) probing the murder of Dr Warda has submitted its report to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, officials confirmed on Wednesday.
Dr Warda, a doctor at Benazir Shaheed District Hospital in Abbottabad, was allegedly abducted by her friend Rida Jadun on December 4, 2025, and murdered with the help of accomplices Nadeem, Parvez, and Shamrez.
Following the discovery of her body, medical staff staged protests outside Ayub Teaching Hospital demanding justice in the Dr Warda case.
According to sources, the JIT has identified police officers responsible for negligence in the case. A JIT member said the determination of punishment now rests with the provincial government.
Speaking to the media, Ishaq Zakaria confirmed that the principal accused in the Dr Warda case is Rida. He added that punishments have been recommended according to the level of culpability of each police officer involved.
Zakaria further revealed that Shamrez was a hired assassin. Evidence suggests that Rida and her husband, Haider, had been in contact with Shamrez through mobile phones of their employees.
The submission of the JIT report marks a significant development in the high-profile Dr Warda case, with public attention now focused on the provincial governmentโs decisions regarding accountability and punishment.
Officials emphasized the importance of swift action to ensure justice and restore public confidence. The case has drawn widespread media coverage and public scrutiny, highlighting issues of police negligence and criminal accountability in the region.
The KP government is expected to review the report and announce its next steps, including disciplinary measures for the negligent officers and legal proceedings against the accused.
The developments in the Dr Warda case continue to resonate across the province, with medical professionals and citizens closely monitoring the governmentโs response.
