KARACHI – A deadly Gas Cylinder Blast shook a residential building in Soldier Bazaar No 3 late at night. The explosion killed at least 13 people, including women and children. Several others were injured when part of the three-storey structure collapsed.
The powerful Gas Cylinder Blast occurred on the first floor of the building. The force of the explosion damaged the structure and caused a partial collapse. Residents were trapped under heavy debris. The area was filled with panic and cries for help.
Rescue teams quickly reached the site. They began a search operation that continued throughout the night. Officials said all available resources were used to save lives. Workers removed rubble piece by piece to find survivors.
Initial investigations suggest the blast was caused by a gas leak. Authorities believe the leak may have come from a gas cylinder or a gas suction machine inside the building. The exact cause is still under investigation.
Rescuers pulled several injured people from the debris. However, the operation also revealed tragic losses. Among the victims was 10-year-old Nazia. A 60-year-old man, Mohammad Riaz, also lost his life. The bodies of a 17-year-old girl and a woman were later recovered. The identity of another victim is still being confirmed.
A 14-year-old girl was rescued alive but remains in critical condition. Several children were among the injured. They were shifted to nearby hospitals for emergency treatment. Doctors are working hard to stabilize the wounded.
Officials said at least two people are still believed to be trapped under the rubble. Rescue efforts are facing challenges due to narrow and congested streets around the building. The limited access has slowed the movement of heavy machinery.
Police have sealed off the area to ensure safety. Security has been tightened as the rescue work continues. Families are waiting anxiously for updates about their loved ones.
