Karachi Closes Roads to Heavy Traffic During Specific Hours, Full Details Here

KARACHI โ€“ Karachi has been facing growing traffic congestion and repeated dumper-related accidents in recent weeks. In response, the city administration has imposed a ban on the entry of dumpers and heavy vehicles under Section 144.

The decision was announced by Karachi Commissioner Hassan Akbar Naqvi. The restriction will remain in force for two months. It will apply daily from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm. Authorities say the move aims to reduce Heavy Traffic on major roads and improve public safety.

Karachiโ€™s roads have seen a sharp rise in accidents involving large trucks. These incidents have caused injuries, property damage, and long traffic jams. Residents have also raised concerns about unsafe road conditions due to unchecked movement of heavy vehicles.

Officials said the ban is part of a broader traffic management plan. The goal is to control Heavy Traffic during peak hours and ensure smoother movement for private vehicles and public transport. Reducing pressure on busy roads is expected to lower accident risks.

To avoid disruption in the supply of essential goods, alternative routes have been assigned. Heavy vehicles entering the city from the Super Highway will now be diverted to the New Karachi Industrial Area. This step will help keep large trucks away from densely populated zones.

Trucks arriving from the National Highway will be directed through Godam Chowrangi, Younis Chowrangi, Dawood Chowrangi, and Jam Sadiq Bridge. These routes have been selected to manage Heavy Traffic without blocking city centers.

Large vehicles heading toward Karachi Port will use the Northern Bypass. They will pass through Pracha Chowk, Sims Chowrangi, Gulbai, and Mauripur. This route is considered safer and less crowded during daytime hours.

Vehicles coming from Link Road Kathore will be allowed to proceed toward the National Highway and Sassi Toll Plaza. Traffic police will monitor these routes to ensure compliance.

The administration has warned transporters to strictly follow the new directions. Violations may lead to fines or legal action. Officials stressed that cooperation is essential for public safety.

Authorities believe these measures will reduce congestion, prevent accidents, and make daily travel safer for Karachiโ€™s residents.
