According to the available details, the suspect visited the shop and remained there for some time. Shortly before closing, he allegedly changed the shop’s locks without attracting attention.
The shopkeeper later locked the premises, unaware that the locks had been altered. After the shopkeeper left, the suspect reportedly opened the shutter and escaped with valuable goods.
Trade leader Rizwan Irfan said the incident occurred on the night of October 17. He stated that the suspect completed the theft within just five minutes.
A case has been registered at Preedy police station, according to the report. Further details about the suspect and the investigation have not been provided.
Suspect Allegedly Changed Shop Locks Before Theft
The reported theft involved a suspected plan to gain access to the shop after business hours. The suspect allegedly arrived before closing time and waited until the opportunity arose.
According to the report, he changed the locks shortly before the shopkeeper closed the premises. The shopkeeper then locked the shop using the altered locks and left without noticing the change.
The suspect allegedly returned to the shutter after the shop had closed. He reportedly opened it and took goods worth millions of rupees.
The incident has raised concerns among traders in the Saddar mobile market. Shopkeepers may now face renewed questions about the security of their premises and locking systems.
The stolen goods reportedly included valuable mobile phones and other merchandise worth Rs2.8 million. However, a detailed inventory of the stolen items has not been disclosed.
Karachi Traders Express Concern Over Market Security
Trade leader Rizwan Irfan confirmed the reported incident and shared details about its timing. He said the theft took place on October 17 and lasted approximately five minutes.
The short time reportedly required to carry out the theft has drawn attention from market traders. The incident also highlights the importance of checking locks and other security measures before leaving shops unattended.
Authorities have registered a case at Preedy police station. Further investigation will be needed to identify the suspect and establish the complete circumstances surrounding the theft.
