Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has inaugurated the Mosamiyat Flyover in Karachi. The new infrastructure is part of the ongoing Red Line Bus Rapid Transit project.

The inauguration took place on Sunday, according to a spokesperson for the provincial minister.

Memon serves as Sindh’s Senior Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit. Provincial Minister Saeed Ghani also attended the inauguration ceremony.

Karachi Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad accompanied the ministers during the visit.

Before the inauguration, officials briefed them about construction along the Red Line corridor. They also provided updates about the overall progress of the BRT project.

Memon described the Mosamiyat Flyover as an important part of the Red Line development.

He said authorities would complete the required protocols before allowing public traffic. According to the minister, the flyover is expected to open within two days of its inauguration.

The project is aimed at improving movement along one of Karachi’s busy traffic corridors.

Memon also discussed challenges faced during the construction period. He said the original construction contracts covered a period of two years.

However, rising inflation increased the cost of construction materials and other project requirements.

The minister cited changes in the dollar rate as one of the challenges. He also pointed to higher cement and petrol prices during the construction period.

Despite these difficulties, Memon said the government continued work on the project.

He said issues were addressed through agreements and consultations with relevant institutions.

The minister also appreciated the project team for completing the work quickly. According to Memon, the development has largely addressed commuting difficulties along University Road.

Construction activity had affected traffic movement in the area during the Red Line project.

The new Flyover is expected to support smoother traffic movement once formally opened. Meanwhile, work on other parts of the Red Line BRT project is continuing.

Memon said construction of BRT stations is also progressing at a rapid pace.

The Red Line is being developed as part of Karachi’s wider public transport infrastructure. The project includes dedicated bus facilities and related road infrastructure.

Authorities expect these developments to improve public transport and traffic management in the city.

The Mosamiyat Flyover marks another completed component of the wider Red Line corridor.
