Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab formally inaugurated the new Police Station, which will operate under the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC). The initiative marks a major step in improving action against water-related crimes.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the mayor said the Water Corporation has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against water theft. He added that authorities will now take stronger legal action against individuals and groups involved in stealing public water supplies.
According to Wahab, this is the first time in Karachi’s history that a dedicated Police Station has been established under the Water Corporation Act. The station has been granted full legal authority to register cases and pursue legal proceedings.
Officials believe the new setup will make investigations faster and more effective. Cases related to water theft will now be registered directly at the specialized station instead of being handled through multiple departments.
The mayor said the dedicated station will improve coordination between law enforcement agencies and the Water Corporation. This is expected to reduce delays in filing cases and carrying out investigations.
