Police have reportedly recovered more than one kilogram of drugs during a raid on a bungalow in Karachi. The seized substances included crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as Ice, and cocaine. The property is linked to Azad Jakhrani, brother of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) MNA Aijaz Jakhrani.
According to police, the operation followed information provided by a suspect arrested with cocaine and Ice. During questioning, the suspect allegedly identified Azad Jakhrani as the owner of the drugs. He also claimed that additional supplies were stored at the bungalow.
Police subsequently conducted a raid at the property, known as Jakhrani House. However, Azad was reportedly absent during the operation. Officers could not arrest him at the time.
Authorities have registered a case against Azad under narcotics legislation. However, the allegations against him have not been proven in court. The case remains subject to legal proceedings.
Aijaz Jakhrani Questions Police Raid
PPP lawmaker Aijaz Jakhrani responded to the police operation by saying he had already disassociated himself from his brother. However, he maintained that the raided property was their family home.
Aijaz also accused the police of violating the household’s privacy during the operation. He expressed concerns about the manner in which officers conducted the raid.
The lawmaker said he had contacted Sindh Home Minister and the provincial Inspector General of Police regarding the incident. He called for an investigation into the operation and demanded action against any officials found responsible for misconduct.
His response has brought additional attention to the raid and the concerns surrounding the police operation. The allegations and complaints will require examination by the relevant authorities.
Sindh Assembly Committee Seeks Report
Meanwhile, Faryal Talpur, chairperson of the Sindh Assembly’s Standing Committee on Home Affairs, took notice of the operation at Jakhrani House.
She sought a report from the provincial police chief regarding the raid. The request is expected to help clarify the circumstances surrounding the operation and address the concerns raised.
The incident involves allegations of drug possession, questions about police conduct, and calls for an official investigation. Further details may emerge as authorities review the matter.
