Karachi police have taken strict action against a dumper truck operating illegally in Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 9. The vehicle was found without number plates, a tracking system, a driving license, or even a national identity card.
The seizure followed a complaint lodged by the ASO Traffic Section of Gulistan-e-Jauhar. The driver, accused of reckless and negligent driving, was immediately taken into custody for violating traffic regulations and working outside permitted hours.
During initial questioning, the driver repeatedly denied possessing a CNIC, valid license, or a tracker in the dumper. However, he later admitted to driving such a vehicle for the past three years without fulfilling any legal requirements, according to Karachi police sources.
Authorities confirmed that further investigation is underway to identify the owner of the dumper truck. Once traced, a heavy fine will be imposed on the owner for allowing the vehicle to operate illegally.
DIG Traffic Police, Pir Muhammad Shah, recently announced a ban on plying dumpers and water tankers in Karachi following a traffic mishap in Razzaqabad. He stated that only vehicles giving full access of their control to the traffic police will be exempted.
“Several trackers have been installed in dumpers and water tankers, but many owners have not given access to Karachi police,” the DIG said. Officials stressed that compliance with traffic regulations is essential to prevent accidents and maintain safety on city roads.
Karachi police urged vehicle owners and drivers to follow all legal requirements, including proper registration, valid licenses, and functional tracking systems. Authorities also reminded the public to report illegal vehicles to ensure safety on busy roads.
This action reflects the ongoing efforts of Karachi police to monitor and regulate commercial vehicles. Officials confirmed that operations will continue across the city to enforce traffic laws and prevent accidents caused by reckless driving.
