Different parts of Karachi received light to moderate rainfall on Sunday, offering residents temporary relief from the humid weather. The showers created pleasant conditions across the city.
According to reports, areas including Surjani Town, North Karachi, Nagan Chowrangi, and Buffer Zone witnessed intermittent rain. Other localities such as Nazimabad, North Nazimabad, SITE Area, and Manghopir also reported rainfall.
Showers were further recorded in Naya Nazimabad, Orangi Town, and Mianwali Colony, along with Ayesha Manzil, Federal B Area, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, and Gulistan-e-Jauhar. Residents of Karachi welcomed the brief spell of cool weather.
Earlier, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reported that Cyclone Shakti over the Arabian Sea had intensified into a severe cyclonic storm. The system was located about 390 kilometers south-southwest of Karachi on Sunday.
The Tropical Cyclone Warning Center issued its seventh alert, warning of possible impacts along the countryβs coastal belt. According to the PMD, the storm is expected to move westward before changing direction toward the east and northeast, gradually weakening afterward.
Light to moderate rainfall with thunder has also been forecast for coastal districts of Sindh, including Badin, Thatta, Sujawal, and Jamshoro. Karachi may receive more showers as the cyclone continues to influence weather patterns.
Authorities have urged fishermen to avoid venturing into the deep sea until October 5 due to rough conditions. Coastal residents in Karachi have also been advised to take precautionary measures, as heavy winds and rainfall are possible.
Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has warned of intermittent rain in parts of the country during the next twelve hours. The NDMA advised the public to stay informed through TV, radio, and the Pak NDMA Disaster Alert app while following local authoritiesβ instructions.
