As Eidul Fitr approaches, the Karachi Traffic Police has implemented a new traffic management plan to tackle the growing congestion in key market areas across the city. The plan aims to ease the expected holiday rush, particularly in high-traffic zones where overcrowding is a common issue during the festive season.
The new directives include a ban on taxis, rickshaws, and on-call ride services from entering heavily congested areas such as Teen Talwar, Tariq Road, and Hyderi Market. To help alleviate traffic, commuters are encouraged to use alternative routes like Clifton Bridge, Race Course, and Khaliq uz Zaman Road.

Further restrictions apply to roads connecting major points such as Saddar, Fawara Chowk, GPO, Singer Chowk, Zaibunnisa Street, and Jama Cloth, with vehicles being restricted from reaching Eidgah Chowk. Traffic from the Millennium area will also be rerouted via Millennium Bridge towards Nipa, while commercial vehicles will be directed to Ship Owners College and Landi Kotal Chowrangi.
The Karachi Traffic Police hopes these measures will help manage the surge of shoppers and vehicles expected in the days leading up to Eid, ensuring smoother travel across the city during the holiday period.
Eidul Fitr 2025 is expected to be celebrated on March 31, with an anticipated five-day holiday starting from March 29, which may extend to nine days depending on government decisions regarding additional holiday dates.
