Karachi is expected to experience hot and humid conditions during the next 24 hours, while authorities have warned of possible rainfall and urban flooding in parts of Sindh later this week.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the city’s Weather is likely to remain warm, humid and partly cloudy. The department said temperatures will stay high, with the minimum temperature recorded at 28.5°C.
The maximum temperature in Karachi is expected to remain between 33°C and 35°C during the forecast period. Residents may continue to feel uncomfortable due to high humidity levels.
The PMD reported that humidity in the city is currently around 78 percent. Sea breezes are blowing at a speed of nearly 18 kilometers per hour, providing some relief from the heat.
The department also said light drizzle may occur in some areas of Karachi during the next 24 hours. However, no major rainfall activity is expected during this short period.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Sindh has issued a rain advisory for several parts of the province. The alert will remain active from July 31 to August 2.
The advisory stated that thunderstorms and rainfall are expected across different districts of Sindh. Karachi, Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas are among the areas where heavy rainfall has been predicted.
Other districts likely to receive rain include Sukkur, Larkana, Badin, Tharparkar, Umerkot, Sanghar, Khairpur, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Ghotki, Kashmore and Qambar Shahdadkot.
The PDMA also included Thatta, Jamshoro, Matiari, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar and Shaheed Benazirabad in the rainfall forecast.
Authorities have warned that heavy rain could create problems in low-lying areas. Urban flooding risks may increase in vulnerable locations if rainfall intensity becomes stronger.
Relevant departments have been directed to stay prepared and take necessary measures to reduce the impact of possible flooding.
