During a weekly press briefing, Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan stated that Pakistan and China have agreed to enhance their diplomatic efforts concerning Afghanistan with the aim of fostering peace and stability in the region.
He confirmed that the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) from both Pakistan and India continue to communicate in order to ease tensions along the Line of Control.

Condemning recent provocative statements from India, the spokesperson warned that Pakistan will respond swiftly and firmly to any acts of aggression. He described India’s remarks as baseless, irresponsible, and a serious threat to regional peace, also accusing them of violating the UN Charter.
While acknowledging the United States’ role in helping to reduce tensions between Pakistan and India, the spokesperson stressed the need for additional confidence-building measures, even following the ceasefire agreement.
Addressing the Kartarpur Corridor, he highlighted that despite rising tensions, Pakistan has maintained the corridor’s accessibility. “We have consistently welcomed pilgrims and are dedicated to facilitating their visits,” he said.
He criticized India for blocking access to pilgrims from their side, noting that the corridor has been closed by India since May 7.
Rejecting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent speech in Rajasthan as provocative, the spokesperson accused New Delhi of spreading false propaganda to distract from its internal problems. He also pointed out that India’s human rights violations in occupied Kashmir have been exposed internationally.
The spokesperson reiterated Pakistan’s desire for peace but emphasized that this should not be interpreted as a sign of weakness. He urged the international community to recognize India’s aggressive stance, warning that any miscalculation would have serious consequences for India.
He confirmed Pakistan’s full commitment to the ceasefire agreement and mentioned ongoing efforts to de-escalate tensions.
Regarding Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s proposed trip to Iran, the spokesperson said an official announcement will be made at the right time and confirmed Pakistan’s ongoing engagement with friendly nations, including Gulf countries.
On the Indus Waters Treaty, he reiterated Pakistan’s consistent position, stating that no party can suspend the treaty unilaterally and that the Government of Pakistan may involve the World Bank if necessary.
