11 Killed, 6 Injured in Kurram Tribal Clashes

Tensions among rival tribes in the Kurram district remain high, leading to the deaths of 11 individuals and injuries to many others.

The incident took place in Kunj Ali Zai, where escalating tensions erupted into a gun battle. Deputy Commissioner Javedullah Mehsud confirmed the fatalities and reported that six people were injured. The injured have been quickly taken to local hospitals for treatment. Following the incident, law enforcement and security personnel were deployed to the area to restore order and investigate the shootings.

DC Mehsud stated that strict measures are being implemented to secure the roads and restore normalcy in the district. Former MNA and Jirga member Pir Haider Ali Shah announced that Jirga members are on the ground to mediate and work toward a peace agreement between the warring tribes.

This incident adds to the ongoing history of tribal conflicts in Kurram, which have previously resulted in significant casualties. Authorities are urging community leaders to engage in dialogue to prevent further violence.

Kurram, a region bordering Afghanistan, faces threats from militant groups. Previous clashes have occurred between the Maleekhel tribe and the Madgi Kalay tribe over land disputes involving agricultural land. The area, home to approximately 700,000 people, has a history of violence, with hundreds killed in past incidents.
