Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi met former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser to discuss key political issues.
The meeting focused on PTI founder Imran Khan’s release and the supremacy of the Constitution. Both leaders also discussed their future political Strategy and plans to coordinate with opposition parties across Pakistan.
Opposition Meeting Planned in Islamabad
The leaders discussed convening a meeting of Tehreek Tahafuz Aain-e-Pakistan in Islamabad.
The proposed meeting will focus on consultations regarding the opposition’s future political plans. Both leaders stressed the importance of bringing opposition parties together on a common platform.
They said greater coordination could strengthen democracy and support the constitutional and parliamentary system. A joint Strategy will also be developed to organise the political movement and expand public outreach.
Sohail Afridi Plans Visits Across Pakistan
Chief Minister Sohail Afridi also decided to visit several regions as part of the outreach campaign.
His planned visits include Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. During these visits, Afridi will meet political leaders and participate in public outreach activities.
The schedule will be finalised after consultations with party organisations in the respective regions. Opposition parties will also be taken into confidence before further political activities are announced.
Leaders Discuss Wider Public Outreach
The meeting also focused on expanding engagement with different sections of society. Jirgas and consultative meetings are expected to be organised as part of the outreach effort.
These consultations will involve lawyers, students, farmers, workers and representatives from other sections of society. The initiative aims to broaden political engagement and strengthen coordination among opposition groups.
Imran Khan’s Release Remains Key Focus
The two leaders agreed to continue efforts for the release of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi.
They also called for the release of other individuals they described as political prisoners. The meeting further discussed justice, democratic rights and the protection of constitutional principles.
The opposition’s future Strategy is expected to include political consultations and public engagement across different regions. Further details are likely to emerge after discussions with political parties and regional organisations.
