Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has introduced a digital attendance system for students in degree colleges across the province.
The new E-Attendance System will help parents monitor their children’s attendance through SMS notifications.
Parents will receive alerts when their children miss classes. The messages will also provide details about the classes missed by students.
E-Attendance System Launched in KP Colleges
Provincial Minister for Higher Education and Local Government Meena Khan Afridi formally launched the initiative on Thursday.
The launch ceremony was held at a Government Degree College.
Officials from the Higher Education Department attended the event. Representatives from Zong Telecom were also present alongside teachers and students.
The initiative is part of the provincial government’s efforts to introduce technology into the education sector.
Parents to Receive SMS Attendance Alerts
Under the E-Attendance System, parents will receive regular SMS updates about their children’s attendance.
The service will inform parents when a student is absent from class. It will also provide information about specific classes missed by the student.
The system aims to improve communication between colleges and families. It will also allow parents to stay informed about student attendance.
Higher Education Department Signs MoU With Zong
The Higher Education Department has also signed a memorandum of understanding with Zong Telecom. The agreement will support the digital attendance initiative and improve communication with parents.
The telecom partnership will help deliver attendance information directly through SMS alerts.
KP Expands Digital Education Initiatives
Speaking at the ceremony, Meena Khan Afridi highlighted the government’s growing use of technology in education.
He said the department was expanding digital solutions to improve the provincial education system.
The government has already introduced several technology-based initiatives in the higher education sector. These include an e-transfer system for teachers and a university ranking system.
The new E-Attendance System adds another digital service to the government’s education reforms.
Hard-Area Allowance Announced for Teachers
The provincial minister also announced a hard-area allowance for teachers working in remote locations.
The measure is designed to provide additional financial support to teachers serving in difficult areas. It also aims to encourage more teachers to work in underserved parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The government expects its digital initiatives to improve administration and communication across the higher education sector.
