PESHAWAR – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has denied receiving the resignation letter of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, contradicting Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) claims that it was submitted to the Governor House on Wednesday night.
In an interview with Samaa TV, the KP governor stated that no official communication regarding the chief minister’s resignation had reached his office. He clarified that none of his authorized staff members, including the chief secretary officer (CSO), military secretary (MS), or secretary, had received the document.
“Official correspondence cannot be left at the gate,” the KP governor explained. “Only my CSO, MS, or secretary can accept such documents, and none of them have received any resignation from Ali Amin Gandapur.”
Governor Faisal Karim Kundi added that he would act promptly according to the Constitution if the resignation was formally received. “If the resignation comes through official channels, I will not delay its acceptance,” he assured.
However, PTI rejected the KP governor’s statement, calling it “baseless.” PTI’s Central Secretary for Information, Sheikh Waqas Akram, shared a copy of Gandapur’s resignation on social media, asserting that it was submitted at 10:45 pm and officially acknowledged by the Governor House staff. He claimed that the military secretary was informed prior to submission and that a written receipt was issued.
In response, Governor Kundi dismissed PTI’s allegations as “fake news.” He maintained that no authorized official had issued any receipt and emphasized that all correspondence must go through proper channels.
Meanwhile, PTI Chairman Barrister Gauhar urged the governor to immediately accept the resignation to ensure a smooth transition of power. He added that delaying the process serves no constitutional purpose.
