Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KW&SC) on Wednesday officially launched the KW&SC Unified App, aiming to improve water and sewerage services in the city. The app is part of the vision “One App, One System, One Karachi.”
Speaking at the inauguration, Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab called the launch a “digital revolution” for the city. The Unified App allows citizens to register complaints, pay bills, and book water tankers directly from their smartphones.
“The city requires practical solutions rather than accusations,” Wahab said. “Through automation, we are increasing transparency and efficiency in our operations.” He added that integration with the SAP system has already helped identify fraudulent recruitments and streamline financial monitoring.
The app, available in English, Urdu, and Sindhi, features a simple registration process using a One-Time Password (OTP). By linking the billing system to the 1Link platform, KW&SC expects to improve revenue collection and reduce inefficiencies. Officials estimate the app could save millions of rupees annually.
During the event, the Mayor also announced a PKR 500 million water line project for Steel Town. Work will start immediately, with completion expected before the last ten days of Ramadan. Wahab highlighted that the project prioritizes working-class communities.
KW&SC CEO Ahmed Ali Siddiqui and CITO Sadat Anwar attended the ceremony. Anwar explained that the Unified App allows users to track the real-time status of complaints and applications, making the service more responsive and citizen-friendly.
Mayor Wahab urged residents to download the KW&SC Unified App and make full use of its features. He assured that Karachi’s resources would be used for the benefit of citizens. For those unable to use the app, KW&SC’s helpline at 1334 remains available for support.
The launch of the Unified App marks a major step toward digital governance in Karachi, providing citizens with a convenient and transparent way to manage water and sewerage services.
