Lahore Traffic Police have stepped up action against motorists with repeated traffic violations. During the latest operation, a Biker Fined Rs190,000 had 113 unpaid e-challans against his motorcycle.
Traffic officers stopped the motorcycle on Walton Road during a routine enforcement operation. Officers Ghulam Arabi and Tanveer checked the vehicle’s e-challan history.
The record showed a total of 113 traffic violations linked to the motorcycle. Police then took action against the rider and impounded the vehicle.
89 Challans Issued for Helmet Violations
According to Lahore Traffic Police, most violations involved riding without a helmet.
The rider had reportedly received 89 e-challans for not wearing a helmet. Another 24 challans were issued for violating traffic signals.
Together, these violations resulted in a total penalty of Rs190,000.
Following the record check, authorities shifted the motorcycle to Factory Area Police Station. The case highlights the increasing use of digital systems for traffic enforcement in Lahore.
The Biker Fined in the latest operation had accumulated the challans before authorities stopped the motorcycle.
Lahore Traffic Police Intensify Crackdown
Chief Traffic Officer Lahore Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi said enforcement against repeated offenders would continue.
Authorities are focusing on motorists who repeatedly break traffic rules. Action is also being taken against those who fail to clear outstanding e-challans.
Shirazi said letters have been sent to government departments with pending e-challans. The departments have been asked to ensure outstanding penalties are cleared.
ANPR Cameras Monitoring Traffic Violations
Lahore authorities are also using Automatic Number Plate Recognition cameras for traffic enforcement.
According to the traffic police, e-challans are being generated for more than 20 types of violations through ANPR cameras.
The technology allows authorities to identify vehicles and record violations using their registration numbers.
Traffic police are also taking action against motorists who alter or tamper with vehicle number plates.
Officials said the crackdown applies without discrimination to vehicles found violating traffic regulations.
