Residents across Lahore are facing growing difficulties as Load Shedding continues during an intense heatwave in Punjab. Despite official claims that electricity supply is sufficient to meet demand, many areas of the city are experiencing frequent and unannounced power outages.
The ongoing power disruptions have added to the hardship caused by soaring temperatures. Families, children, and elderly residents are being forced to spend several hours without electricity during one of the hottest periods of the year.
Businesses are also reporting financial losses due to repeated electricity interruptions. Shop owners and small businesses say unexpected power cuts are affecting their daily operations and reducing productivity.
Several neighborhoods, including Shama, Gulberg, Outfall Road, NFC, and Baghbanpura, have reported frequent Load Shedding, low voltage, and continuous power fluctuations. Residents say electricity outages are occurring without prior notice, making it difficult to plan daily activities.
Many households have also complained that unstable voltage has damaged expensive home appliances. Air conditioners, refrigerators, televisions, water motors, and other electrical equipment have reportedly been affected by repeated power fluctuations, increasing financial pressure on consumers.
The situation has led to growing frustration among Lahore residents. Many are questioning why they are experiencing hours of power outages when the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has repeatedly stated that there is enough electricity available to meet the city’s demand.
LESCO has previously maintained that electricity generation and supply remain balanced. The utility has said there is no major shortage of power in its distribution network. However, recent reports suggest there could be a shortfall of 500 to 800 megawatts, raising concerns about the actual supply situation.
As the heatwave continues, electricity demand has increased significantly across Punjab. Air conditioners, fans, and cooling systems are being used for longer periods, placing additional pressure on the electricity network.
Social media has also been flooded with complaints from residents across Lahore. Many users have shared their experiences of repeated power cuts during peak evening hours, unstable voltage, and long delays in electricity restoration. Some neighborhoods have reportedly remained without electricity for extended periods despite extremely high temperatures.
Residents say uninterrupted electricity has become a basic necessity during the ongoing heatwave. They believe reliable power is essential for protecting vulnerable groups, including children, senior citizens, and patients who depend on electrical appliances.
Many consumers are now demanding greater transparency from LESCO regarding the current electricity situation. They are asking the utility to explain the difference between its public statements about adequate power supply and the widespread Load Shedding being experienced across the city.

Citizens have also urged LESCO to improve its distribution infrastructure, resolve recurring technical faults, and provide timely updates whenever electricity interruptions occur. They hope these measures will help reduce future outages and improve the reliability of electricity services during periods of high demand.
