LAHORE: A new rain-bearing system is expected to enter Pakistan tonight, bringing a change in weather conditions across several regions. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said the system may provide relief to areas facing prolonged dry conditions.
According to the PMD, the weather system will mainly affect northern and hilly regions. Areas such as Murree, Galyat, and other high-altitude locations are likely to receive rain. In some places, rainfall will be accompanied by snowfall due to low temperatures.
Officials said the system’s impact will be limited in most parts of Punjab. Cities including Lahore are expected to remain mostly dry. Light clouds may appear, but the chances of significant rainfall remain low.
In Lahore, cloud cover may pass without bringing rain. The department said dry weather is expected to continue in the city. Residents should not expect major changes in rainfall patterns during the next 24 hours.
The PMD also warned of dense fog in Lahore and several districts of Punjab. Fog is expected during early mornings and late evenings. This may reduce visibility and disrupt road traffic.
Motorists have been advised to take precautionary measures. Reduced visibility could increase the risk of accidents on highways and major roads. Travelers are urged to drive carefully during foggy hours.
Temperature levels in Lahore will remain moderate. The minimum temperature is expected to be around 8.5 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature may reach up to 21 degrees Celsius during the day.
The combination of fog and cool temperatures will create chilly conditions. Mornings and evenings are likely to feel colder than usual. People are advised to dress warmly, especially during early hours.
In contrast, northern regions will experience a noticeable change in weather. Rain and snowfall may lower temperatures further in hilly areas. Authorities have advised tourists to stay updated on local forecasts.
The Met Office said the rest of the country will see stable conditions. Most areas will experience mild temperatures with little or no rainfall. Dry conditions are expected to persist outside northern regions.
