LAHORE β A horrifying incident unfolded in Lahoreβs Gulberg area, where a 12-year-old boy was allegedly set on fire by his employer. The accused workshop owner has been arrested following swift police action.
According to police reports, the young boy, Faizan, was employed at a local auto repair workshop in Gulberg Model Colony. The tragedy occurred when petrol from a vehicleβs carburetor accidentally spilled on his clothes. When Faizan informed his employer, identified as Babar, the workshop owner allegedly reacted in a shocking and violent manner.
Babar reportedly lit a matchstick and threw it at the boy, setting his clothes ablaze. Faizan sustained severe burn injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Doctors have confirmed that he suffered major burns on multiple parts of his body and remains under intensive care.
The incident came to light after Faizanβs father, Shah Mohammad, filed a complaint at the local police station. Acting on the report, DIG Operations ordered an immediate investigation. Under the supervision of SHO Tehmour Abbas Khan, Gulberg Police traced and arrested the workshop owner using modern technology.
SHO Khan confirmed that the accused has been taken into custody and is under police remand. Authorities have pledged to ensure justice for the victim and take strict legal action against the perpetrator.
The tragic case has sparked public outrage, drawing attention to the exploitation of child labor and the unsafe conditions faced by underage workers. Human rights activists have urged the government to strengthen workplace safety laws and enforce bans on employing minors in hazardous environments.
