A telephone exchange building was destroyed in a powerful explosion carried out by terrorists in the Shah Tora Takhtikhel area of Sarai Naurang, within the police station limits of Lakki Marwat, officials confirmed on Friday.
According to police reports, the attackers stormed the building late Thursday night. They took the on-duty watchman hostage before planting explosives inside the facility. The Lakki Marwat police said the explosion completely leveled the structure, damaging all communication equipment and leaving behind debris and twisted metal.
Authorities stated that the militants entered the building under the cover of darkness. After overpowering the watchman, they set up the explosives and detonated them, causing the entire building to collapse. Following the blast, the terrorists released the watchman but fled with his weapon before security forces arrived.
Soon after the explosion, a heavy contingent of police and bomb disposal experts reached the scene. The area was cordoned off, and a large-scale search operation was launched to track down those responsible for the attack. Law enforcement officials are also investigating whether the incident is linked to recent militant activities reported in the Lakki Marwat district.
Local residents said the explosion shook nearby houses, spreading fear and panic across the neighborhood. Fortunately, no casualties were reported apart from the property damage.
