LESCO Announces Important Decision On Bill Payments And Net Metering Policy

The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has taken an important decision regarding electricity bill payments. The company announced that payments will no longer be accepted through post offices starting April 1, 2026.

LESCO has advised consumers to use alternative payment methods. These include QR codes, banks, and other authorized channels. Officials said this step will help customers avoid delays and inconvenience.

According to the company, this important decision aims to improve services and streamline the billing system. By shifting to digital and banking channels, LESCO expects faster processing and better record management. Consumers have been urged to adapt to the new system before the deadline.

In a separate development, LESCO has also revised its billing policy for net metering consumers. The changes were made on the instructions of the Ministry of Energy. The companyโ€™s IT directorate has issued a formal notification regarding the updated mechanism.

Under the revised policy, the export rate for net metering consumers has been reduced by 66 paisas per unit. The per unit export rate has been lowered from Rs25.98 to Rs25.32. The new rates will apply from the January 2026 billing cycle.

Officials described the revision as another important decision to align with national energy guidelines. The updated policy also states that export units exceeding the approved capacity will not be allowed. Any excess export units will be restricted according to the D.G. capacity limit.

LESCO stated that these measures are intended to ensure fair billing practices and improve transparency. Consumers with net metering connections have been advised to review their approved capacity and monitor their export units carefully.

The company emphasized that both changes are part of broader reforms in the power sector. By implementing digital payments and revising net metering rates, LESCO aims to strengthen operational efficiency.

Customers are encouraged to stay informed and follow official updates. The important decision on payment methods and billing adjustments reflects LESCOโ€™s efforts to modernize its system and enhance consumer services across its service areas.
