The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority has announced a fresh price hike for liquefied petroleum gas for the month of December. In its latest notification, OGRA confirmed that LPG prices increased after adjustments linked to Saudi Aramco’s Contract Price and movements in the US dollar exchange rate.
Under the revised rates, LPG now costs Rs208.99 per kilogram, marking an increase of Rs7.39 per kg. A domestic 11.8 kg cylinder will rise by Rs87.21, bringing the new price to Rs2,466.10. Commercial cylinders will now be available at Rs9,488 following the adjustment.
OGRA stated that the latest revision is driven by a 4.93 percent rise in Saudi Aramco’s CP. The authority also noted that the average dollar exchange rate dropped by 0.15 percent, which slightly reduced the overall impact of the increase. According to officials, LPG prices are set through international benchmarks to ensure a transparent calculation process for consumers.
The announcement comes a month after OGRA reduced LPG rates for November. At that time, the authority slashed the price by Rs5.88 per kilogram. The reduction brought the cost of a domestic cylinder down by Rs69.44, setting the new rate at Rs2,378.89. The move followed a decline in global LPG market trends, offering some relief to households.
Similarly, on September 30, 2025, the regulator cut prices for October. The domestic cylinder rate dropped by Rs79.14, falling from Rs2,527 to Rs2,448. The per-kilogram price also fell by Rs6.71, decreasing from Rs214.19 to Rs207.48. This marked the second consecutive month of relief at the time.
However, with the December update, LPG prices increased once again, reversing the earlier downward trend. The new rates will stay in effect throughout the month. OGRA continues to monitor global market conditions and exchange rate shifts to determine future pricing.
