PM Shehbaz Sharif, French President Macron Discuss Iran-US Ceasefire and Regional Peace
Shehbaz Sharif confirmed that he received a “warm and substantive” telephone call from Emmanuel Macron, during which the French leader acknowledged Pakistan’s role in facilitating the recent ceasefire between Iran and the United States.
In a statement shared on social media platform X, the prime minister said President Macron appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in helping bring both sides to the negotiating table and extended good wishes for the upcoming peace talks scheduled to take place in Islamabad.
“I deeply appreciate his kind words as well as his good wishes for the success of the upcoming peace talks in Islamabad,” PM Sharif stated, highlighting growing international recognition of Pakistan’s mediation role in easing regional tensions.
According to the statement, both leaders emphasized the importance of continued diplomatic engagement to ensure that the ceasefire evolves into a durable and lasting peace agreement. The Pakistani premier reaffirmed Islamabad’s commitment to working closely with international partners, including France, to support dialogue and stability.
The discussion also covered the escalating situation in Lebanon, where both sides stressed the urgent need to end ongoing aggression and prevent further civilian casualties amid rising regional instability.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s support for peaceful solutions through diplomacy, noting that sustained cooperation among global partners remains essential to restoring long-term peace and security across the Middle East.
