Major Breakthrough in Dr Warda Case – Suspect Nabbed, Mobile & ATM Found

ABBOTTABAD – Police have arrested a key suspect in the Dr Warda Case, marking a significant breakthrough in the investigation. The suspect, identified as Adil, was found in possession of Dr. Warda Mushtaq’s mobile phone and ATM card, authorities said.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Ayaz Khan stated that the accused confessed to digging a pit and burying Dr. Warda’s body. Following his identification, police recovered a large cache of weapons, including rocket launcher ammunition and multiple rifles, from the home of another suspect, Shamraiz.

The suspect was presented before an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC), which granted a seven-day physical remand to allow further investigation.

Investigators said the murder was premeditated and motivated by greed for gold. Dr. Warda had allegedly given gold to her friend and prime suspect, Rida, two years ago. Rida reportedly refused to return it and later planned the murder by striking a deal with the killers for Rs10 million.

On the day of the incident, Dr. Warda was taken to an under-construction house by Rida. Suspects Shamraiz, Nadeem, and Aurangzeb were present, and police allege that Nadeem carried out the murder.

The incident prompted protests from doctors and hospital staff at Benazir Shaheed DHQ Hospital, demanding justice for Dr. Warda. Her father also criticized the police for their initial lack of cooperation and delay in arresting the main suspect.

Dr. Warda, a mother of two, was living with her father, Mushtaq, and her children. Her husband, Raheel Ali Raza, works in South Korea. Police continue their investigation to apprehend all accomplices involved in this tragic case.
