Malala Urges India, Pakistan To De-Escalate And Embrace Peace

Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai has appealed to the governments of Pakistan and India to urgently reduce rising tensions and commit to safeguarding civilians as hostilities continue to escalate across the region. In a statement shared on Thursday, Malala condemned the latest surge in violence and expressed solidarity with all victims on both sides of the border.

“Hatred and violence are our common enemies, not each other,” Malala stated, calling on the leadership of both nations to prioritize peace, protect civilians — especially children — and resist forces that seek to deepen divisions. She extended her condolences to families mourning loved ones lost in recent conflicts and expressed concern for those working for education and advocacy amid growing instability.

Her heartfelt message comes at a time of deep uncertainty, as the region grapples with the consequences of cross-border aggression and rising geopolitical tensions.
