Police have arrested a man at Benazir Bhutto Hospital for allegedly posing as a doctor.
The suspect reportedly attempted to obtain blood bottles from the hospital’s blood bank. Police suspect the blood was intended for illegal sale.
A case was registered following a complaint by ward master Raja Nauman. The complaint provided details about the incident at the hospital.
According to the FIR, Nauman was working during the evening shift. Senior lab technician Muhammad Ramzan then informed him about the suspect.
The suspect was identified as Saleh Iftikhar. He reportedly arrived at the blood bank wearing a doctor’s uniform.
Hospital staff became suspicious of his activities. The complaint stated that he had previously been stopped from obtaining blood through improper means.
The suspect later returned to the blood bank. Hospital staff reportedly intervened and apprehended him.
A mobile phone was also recovered from his possession, according to the FIR. The suspect allegedly failed to provide proof that he was a qualified medical doctor.
The case alleges that the man was attempting to obtain blood through fraudulent means. Police are also investigating allegations that the blood was intended for resale.
The incident has raised concerns about security at hospital blood banks. Such facilities handle medical supplies that are essential for patients.
Police confirmed that the suspect was arrested after hospital staff stopped him. A formal case has also been registered over the allegations.
Investigation Underway
Authorities are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. Police will determine how the suspect allegedly attempted to obtain blood from the facility.
Officials are also examining whether the suspect had previously obtained blood through similar methods. Further investigation may establish whether other individuals were involved.
The hospital staff’s intervention prevented the suspect from leaving with the blood bottles. His alleged use of a doctor’s uniform also became a key part of the complaint.
Police have arrested the suspect as the investigation continues. The allegations will be examined through the legal process.
The case highlights the importance of verifying the identity of people accessing sensitive hospital facilities. Blood banks require strict controls to protect patients and medical resources.
Authorities are expected to gather further evidence as the investigation progresses. Police have not yet disclosed additional details about the suspect’s alleged activities.
The suspect remains under investigation in connection with the registered case. Further developments are expected once investigators complete their initial inquiries.
