Manhole Tragedy Victim’s Family Pardons Accused, Five Granted Bail

The Manhole Tragedy case in Lahore has taken a new turn after a local court ordered the release of all five main accused. The incident had earlier shocked the city after a mother and her young daughter lost their lives near Bhati Gate.

A district court in Lahore issued the release order during a hearing of the Manhole Tragedy case. Judicial Magistrate Shafqat Abbas presided over the proceedings. The decision came after the court was informed that the victims’ family had pardoned the accused following a reconciliation.

During the hearing, the complainant addressed the court and confirmed the family’s decision. He stated that they did not want to pursue the case any further. He also said the family had no objection to the acquittal or discharge of the accused persons.

The court recorded the statement of the victim’s family as part of the official proceedings. After reviewing the reconciliation, the magistrate approved the bail applications of all five accused. The decision was made on legal grounds following the family’s pardon.

The Manhole Tragedy had earlier drawn public attention because of the tragic loss of two lives. The incident occurred when the victims reportedly fell into an open manhole in the Bhati Gate area. Questions had been raised about safety measures and maintenance in the locality after the accident.

Following the incident, Bhati Gate police registered a case against the individuals held responsible. Investigations were carried out, and the accused were taken into custody. However, the case took a different direction after both sides agreed to settle the matter.

With the family’s formal statement and reconciliation on record, the court allowed the accused to be released on bail. The legal process concluded at this stage, as the complainant chose not to continue the case.
