Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved an extension in business hours for markets and shopping centres across the province during the holy month of Ramazan. The decision aims to make shopping easier for citizens and provide relief to businesses during the peak festive season.
According to official details, the extension was granted after a request from the business community, including representatives of chain stores and restaurant associations. The proposal was reviewed and approved on Tuesday, allowing commercial centres to operate with relaxed timing rules throughout Ramazan.
Adviser to the Chief Minister, Zeeshan Malik, shared copies of the notification on his official social media account, confirming the new directives. Under the decision, shops, malls, supermarkets, chain stores, and restaurants will receive special concessions in operating hours.
The notification has been issued under the Punjab Shops and Establishment Ordinance 1969. The Labour and Human Resource Department has also circulated the directive to relevant authorities for implementation.
Officials, including the Director-General of Labour Welfare and deputy commissioners across the province, have been instructed to ensure the new timings are followed. Business organisations, including the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, have also been informed of the decision.
