Massive Fire Erupts at I-8 Markaz Plaza, Triggers Panic in Islamabad

A major fire broke out at a restaurant in I-8 Markaz on Tuesday, sending thick clouds of smoke across one of Islamabad’s busiest commercial areas. The incident caused panic among shopkeepers, residents and visitors as emergency teams rushed to the scene.

According to initial reports, the fire spread quickly after it erupted inside the restaurant. Thick black smoke soon covered parts of I-8 Markaz, reducing visibility and creating breathing difficulties for people nearby.

Witnesses said the flames intensified within a short time, raising fears that the fire could spread to nearby shops and commercial buildings. Many people moved away from the area as a precaution while authorities began emergency operations.

Rescue teams and firefighters arrived at the scene soon after the incident was reported. Multiple fire engines were deployed to control the blaze and stop it from spreading further across the busy market.

The Islamabad District Administration confirmed that firefighting operations were underway. Officials said rescue personnel remained engaged at the site to bring the situation under control and protect surrounding properties.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the cause of the fire. An investigation will be launched after firefighters completely extinguish the blaze. Officials are expected to determine how the incident started once the area becomes safe for inspection.

The extent of property damage has not been officially confirmed. Authorities are also yet to release details regarding any injuries or casualties linked to the incident.

Several eyewitnesses expressed concern over the initial emergency response. Some people at the scene claimed that rescue services took time to reach I-8 Markaz after the fire started. However, no official statement has been issued regarding these claims.

Firefighters continued working for several hours to prevent the flames from reaching nearby businesses. Emergency officials remained focused on containing the fire and ensuring the safety of people in the surrounding area.

Police and local administration also assisted in managing the situation. Access to parts of the commercial centre was restricted to allow rescue vehicles and firefighters to operate without obstruction.

Authorities urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel through I-8 Markaz while emergency operations continued. People were advised to cooperate with officials and keep roads clear for rescue teams responding to the incident.
