Pakistan is bracing for intense monsoon rains starting July 6, with risks of flash floods, landslides, and urban flooding in several parts of the country.
The Met Department has warned that a fresh westerly wave will hit northern regions on July 6, triggering downpours across Punjab, KP, Gilgit-Baltistan, Balochistan, and Kashmir till July 10. Key cities including Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, and Sialkot are expected to face heavy rain and stormy conditions.

NDMA has issued a red alert, warning of flooding in rivers, low-lying areas, and glacial outburst events in northern regions. Landslides, transport disruption, and structural damage due to strong winds are also likely.
Tourists are urged to delay travel plans to Murree and other hill stations. Authorities have advised the public to avoid flood-prone areas, stay indoors during storms, and follow safety guidelines.
