Rain Alert: Met Office Forecasts Showers in Karachi On Thursday

The Met Office has issued a forecast rainfall alert for Karachi and other districts of Sindh on Thursday. The rain is expected to increase the intensity of cold weather from Friday.

A westerly wave approaching the upper parts of the country is expected to affect Balochistan from Wednesday night. Snowfall is predicted in the hilly areas of northern Balochistan. Quetta and nearby districts could receive both rain and snow.

Deputy Director of the Met Department, Anjum Nazir Zaigham, said the weather system will enter western Sindh tomorrow. Light forecast rainfall is possible in Karachi, while western districts could see more consistent showers.

โ€œThe mercury could drop in Karachi from Friday, with minimum temperatures falling to single digits,โ€ a weather official said. Residents are advised to prepare for colder conditions.

Earlier, the Met Office forecast rainfall in Sindh districts including Karachi, Hyderabad, Dadu, Jacobabad, Naushehro Feroz, Kashmore, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad, Mirpurkhas, and Ghotki on 22nd and 23rd January, with occasional gaps expected.

In Balochistan, rainfall is expected in Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah, Noushki, Harnai, Zhob, Kalat, Barkhan, Sibi, Loralai, Musakhel, Turbat, Gwadar, Jiwani, Lasbella, Kech, Awaran, Chaghi, Panjgur, Khuzdar, Washuk, and Kharan districts on 21st and 22nd January. Moderate to heavy snowfall is likely in Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah, Noushki, Harnai, and Zhob.

Officials warned that these weather conditions could disrupt daily activities and advised people to take necessary precautions. Travelers are urged to monitor local forecasts and avoid high-risk areas during heavy rain or snowfall.

With the arrival of the westerly wave, residents of Sindh and Balochistan should expect a significant drop in temperatures along with intermittent rain and snow. The Met Office continues to monitor the situation and will issue updates as needed.
