Mohsin Naqvi Elected New Chairman of Asian Cricket Council

Mohsin Naqvi, the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), officially took over as President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) on Thursday, succeeding Shammi Silva, the former President of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), as announced by the regional cricket body.

In his statement, Naqvi expressed his pride in accepting this prestigious role, saying, “It is a great honour to become the President of the Asian Cricket Council. Asia continues to be the heart of global cricket, and I am dedicated to collaborating with all member boards to further the game’s growth and global reach.”

He further emphasized, “Together, we can create new opportunities, enhance cooperation, and elevate Asian cricket to new heights.”

Naqvi also took the opportunity to thank Shammi Silva for his leadership during his time as president.

Reflecting on his tenure, Silva expressed his gratitude, stating, “Serving as President of the ACC has been an honour. The dedication of our member boards has been crucial in raising the profile of the ACC in the region.”

Naqvi, who has been in charge of the PCB since February 2024, is also serving as Pakistan’s Interior Minister.

A statement from the ACC’s officials welcomed Naqvi’s appointment, highlighting his visionary leadership. “Naqvi brings a focus on unity, innovation, and strategic growth, further strengthening Asia’s role at the forefront of world cricket. Under his leadership, the ACC looks forward to a future full of collaboration, youth initiatives, and enhancing the global recognition of Asian cricket.”
