Mohsin Naqvi Takes Charge as New ACC President, Vows to Elevate Asian Cricket

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi officially stepped into his new role as President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) on Thursday, taking over from Shammi Silva, the head of Sri Lanka Cricket. The announcement came via an official statement from the ACC.

Naqvi, also Pakistan’s Interior Minister, expressed his gratitude and excitement at the appointment. “Asia remains the heartbeat of world cricket,” he said, pledging to work closely with member boards to grow the sport’s reach and influence. He also thanked Silva for his leadership during a productive tenure.

Silva, reflecting on his term, acknowledged the progress made and the cooperation of member boards. “It has been a privilege to serve as ACC President,” he noted, highlighting the regional body’s growing stature.

The ACC emphasized that Naqvi brings a “visionary approach” aimed at fostering unity, innovation, and strategic growth. With a focus on youth engagement and development programs, the ACC under Naqvi aims to push Asian cricket to new heights.
