Mother of Five Leaves Family to Marry TikTok Friend Without โ€˜Iddatโ€™ in Lahore

LAHORE โ€“ A mother of five recently shocked her family and community by leaving her children and first husband to marry a man she met online. The man is reportedly a TikTok friend she connected with on the popular social media app.

The woman, identified as Sana, was presented in the Additional Sessions Judge Imran Khurshidโ€™s court in Harbanspura. Police assisted in summoning her for the hearing. Reports indicate that Sana explained she had obtained a Khula (Islamic divorce) from her first husband, Shahbaz. However, Shahbaz denied being aware of any court-approved divorce.

During the session, Sanaโ€™s children became visibly upset. Her eldest daughter and son cried uncontrollably, repeatedly asking, โ€œHow could our mother leave us?โ€ The emotional scene highlighted the distress caused by her sudden decision.

After receiving court permission, Sana left her children and walked out with her new husband, Abdul Rehman. According to sources, Abdul Rehman is the TikTok friend she met before leaving her first husband. The courtroom scene was described as heartbreaking, with children struggling to understand why their mother chose a new life.

Legal experts noted that a woman granted Khula must observe the iddat period โ€” a waiting period under Islamic law โ€” and obtain a certificate from the Union Council before remarrying. Sana, however, reportedly did not complete either requirement before marrying Abdul Rehman.

The case has sparked debates on social media, with many questioning the ethics of forming relationships with a TikTok friend while still tied to a previous marriage. Authorities are examining whether proper legal procedures were followed.

This case emphasizes the growing influence of social media platforms on personal relationships and highlights the legal obligations individuals must fulfill before remarrying after divorce.
