The Motorway Police, along with the Assistant Commissioner of Kot Momin and his team, carried out a major inspection drive at the Sial Mor service area to check food prices and quality.

During the inspection, several shopkeepers and restaurant owners were found guilty of overcharging customers. Authorities imposed fines amounting to Rs600,000 for violations. Officials said the crackdown aimed to ensure that travelers were not exploited at motorway rest stops.

The inspection team also warned vendors to maintain hygiene standards and display official rate lists. The Motorway Police said they would continue such surprise checks across various service areas to protect commuters from unfair pricing and poor-quality food.

In a separate development, Rahim Yar Khan police have introduced escorted night convoys on the Sukkur-Multan Motorway (M-5) to enhance the safety of travelers. The new initiative follows growing concerns over criminal activities by Katcha dacoit gangs targeting vehicles in southern Punjab and northern Sindh.

According to officials, police convoys are being organized between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. All vehicles traveling during these hours are stopped at the Azampur service area, located between Jamaldin Wali and Bhong.

Every thirty minutes, a group of vehicles is escorted by two armored police pickups through the vulnerable sections of the motorway. For northbound traffic from Sukkur, convoys operate from the Guddu interchange to Azampur, while southbound vehicles follow a similar pattern.

Officials said the move aims to ensure safe passage for motorists during night hours and prevent robberies or abductions in areas close to the Katcha belt.

The Motorway Police urged citizens to cooperate with authorities, follow safety protocols, and travel in convoys during the designated timings. They added that enhanced patrols and joint coordination with local police would continue to maintain law and order on major highways.
