A family’s journey home from a wedding ended in tragedy after a vehicle plunged into a deep ravine in Murree. The accident on Baroha Link Road claimed seven lives, including women and young children. The vehicle reportedly caught fire after falling into the gorge.
More than a dozen family members were travelling home after attending a wedding ceremony in a nearby village. Their celebratory journey turned tragic when the vehicle veered off the mountainous road. It then plunged into the ravine, leaving several passengers dead.
The Murree Crash resulted in the deaths of seven members of the same family. The victims included 40-year-old Arshad, 35-year-old Nighat, and 17-year-old Laiba. Other victims were 10-year-old Tayyab Mahmood, seven-year-old Raima Noor, four-year-old Kashan, and one-and-a-half-year-old Aima Noor.
The loss of several children made the incident particularly devastating for the family. The youngest victim was only 18 months old. According to the report, the vehicle was carrying 14 people when the accident occurred.
The available information did not immediately confirm the condition of the other occupants. The circumstances that caused the vehicle to leave the road also remained unclear. Rescue teams responded to the incident and recovered the victims. Following the accident, the bodies of all seven victims were shifted to Holy Family Hospital in Rawalpindi. They were taken there for the necessary medico-legal formalities.
Another deadly accident reported near Muzaffarabad
The Murree Crash occurred just one day after another fatal road accident near Muzaffarabad. That incident also claimed seven lives and involved a vehicle plunging into a deep ravine.
According to rescue officials, a passenger jeep carrying seven people fell into a gorge in the Shakar Pattian area. The location is on the outskirts of Muzaffarabad. The passengers reportedly included two children. Officials said the jeep was carrying grass while travelling along a difficult mountainous route. The driver reportedly lost control, causing the vehicle to plunge into the ravine.
Together, the two accidents claimed 14 lives within two days. The incidents have drawn attention to the dangers associated with travel through mountainous areas. Steep slopes, narrow roads, and difficult driving conditions can increase the risks of serious accidents. A vehicle losing control on such routes can lead to devastating consequences.
