NADRA Updates Rules: Photos Now Required on B‑Forms for Children Aged 3 to 10

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced a new rule for child registration. Under the updated policy, Nadra makes photos mandatory on B-forms for children aged 3 to 10. This move aims to improve identification accuracy and prevent fake records in the national database.

According to NADRA, parents must first register their child’s birth with the local Union Council. After registration, children aged three to ten must have a recent photograph included on their B-form. This ensures that Nadra makes photos mandatory on B-forms for children aged 3 to 10, improving identity verification from an early age.

Previously, children under three did not need to provide photographs or biometric data. Under the new policy, children aged three and above will have their photos captured at the time of B-form issuance. At age ten, additional biometric details, such as fingerprints, will also be collected.

NADRA officials said these changes will protect family records and reduce identity fraud. Incorrect or fake information in family registration documents can create legal complications and security risks.

The updated B-form system will also support other services, including school admissions, passport applications, and health documentation. Linking a child’s photograph to official records early on helps build a more reliable national database.

Parents are advised to visit their nearest NADRA registration center with the child’s Union Council birth certificate. Children in the three to ten age group must be present for photograph capture during the registration process.

Some critics argue the change may increase processing times at registration centers. However, NADRA officials insist that the long-term benefits of accurate identity verification outweigh any minor delays.

This policy is part of NADRA’s broader efforts to modernize Pakistan’s identity management system and prevent misuse of identity documents. Parents with older B-forms are encouraged to check with NADRA regarding any updates required for services like passports.
