The Central Directorate of National Savings has announced revised profit rates for several savings certificates, accounts and Islamic investment products. The new rates will take effect on October 21, 2026.
The updated rates cover multiple investment schemes for individuals seeking regular income and long-term savings opportunities. These include Special Savings Certificates, Defence Savings Certificates and Regular Income Certificates.
Other affected products include Behbood Savings Certificates, Pensioners’ Benefit Accounts and Shuhada’s Family Welfare Accounts. Short-Term Savings Certificates and Sarwa Islamic savings products are also included.
The revised structure provides different returns depending on the investment scheme, duration and payment schedule. Investors should review the updated rates before choosing a savings product.
Revised Profit Rates for Special Savings Certificates
Under the new structure, Special Savings Certificates offer an annual profit rate of 12% for the first five profit payments. Investors receive Rs6,000 for every Rs100,000 invested during each six-month period.
The sixth payment carries a higher annual rate of 12.8%. This equals Rs6,400 per Rs100,000 investment for the relevant six-month period.
Defence Savings Certificates offer cumulative returns based on the investment duration. The returns range from 10% after one year to 215% after ten years.
The final return depends on the selected maturity period and the applicable certificate terms. Investors should check the official schedule before making investment decisions.
Monthly Returns on Regular Income and Special Accounts
Regular Income Certificates provide monthly profit payments of Rs1,010 per Rs100,000 invested. This represents an annual profit rate of 12.12%.
Meanwhile, Behbood Savings Certificates offer monthly returns of Rs1,080 per Rs100,000. Pensioners’ Benefit Accounts and Shuhada’s Family Welfare Accounts provide the same monthly amount.
These three schemes carry an annual profit rate of 12.96%. They are designed for eligible investors seeking regular income under their respective scheme rules.
The revised profit rates may influence how investors compare monthly income options. However, eligibility requirements and applicable conditions should also be considered.
Short-Term Savings Certificates and National Savings Accounts
Short-Term Savings Certificates offer different annual rates according to their investment periods.
The revised rates are as follows:
- Three-month certificate: 11.12% annually
- Six-month certificate: 11.50% annually
- One-year certificate: 11.72% annually
The regular National Savings Account offers an annual profit rate of 10%.
These options allow investors to compare short-term savings with accounts offering different payment arrangements. Investors should review maturity conditions and withdrawal rules before selecting a scheme.
Sarwa Islamic Savings Products
The revised schedule also covers Sarwa Islamic investment products. Sarwa Islamic Term Accounts offer expected annual profit rates ranging from 11.84% to 12.12%.
The applicable rate depends on the investment period and payment arrangement. Meanwhile, the Sarwa Islamic Savings Account carries an expected annual rate of 11.84%.
These figures represent expected rates for the Islamic products. Investors should consult the official terms for details about profit calculations and payment conditions.
Tax and Other Applicable Deductions
Withholding tax generally stands at 15% for tax filers and 30% for non-filers. Zakat and other applicable deductions remain subject to the relevant rules.
Investors should account for these deductions when estimating their actual returns. The amount received after deductions may differ from the advertised profit.
The revised profit rates, effective October 21, 2026, provide updated information for people considering National Savings products. Investors are advised to confirm the applicable rates and conditions through official National Savings channels before investing.
