Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has firmly denied all reports of a political meeting between Nawaz Sharif and PTI founder Imran Khan. Speaking during the annual ghusl ceremony at the shrine of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh (RA), Dar said that such claims were baseless.
“The news of a Nawaz Sharif meeting with the PTI founder is just a rumour,” he stated. “It may be someone’s wish, but it is not based on reality.”
The Nawaz Sharif Imran Khan meeting rumours surfaced after some media outlets speculated that the PML-N leader might visit Adiala Jail. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) quickly dismissed the reports, saying no official proposal had been received. Party sources added that any such decision would be made solely by Imran Khan.
Rana Sanaullah, a senior PML-N leader, also rejected the rumours. In an interview, he made it clear that Nawaz Sharif would not visit Adiala Jail or Bani Gala to negotiate. “He believes in political dialogue, but not under false claims,” he said.
PTI’s Salman Akram Raja echoed this sentiment, calling the reports “just rumours.” He said there were no plans for a direct meeting and that political dialogue should be based on transparency and mutual respect.
Meanwhile, the government has stressed its openness to dialogue. Federal Minister Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry pointed to a recent gesture of goodwill during the budget session, where Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif shook hands with opposition leaders. He said this showed the government’s desire to move forward.
Despite these gestures, Nawaz Sharif Imran Khan meeting rumours continue to circulate. Both parties, however, have made their positions clear. There is currently no official confirmation or indication that such a meeting will take place.
